Teaching Writing in the Digital Age... A Natural Fit
Question: How can I use technology to engage my students in the English classroom and still meet my required student learning outcomes?
Answer: Teaching writing through technology is a natural fit; however, it is important that the technology enhance the lesson. Before incorporating any technology into my lesson, I carefully consider how it will benefit students and contribute to desired learning outcomes. In other words, I do not force it. I have had a great deal of success using Google Docs for collaborative essays and peer editing, using bubbl.us for students to complete the pre-writing process, and using wordle for students to check to see which words feature prominently in their essays.
